Here she sits, proper and posed

inviting a look as her thoughts are exposed.

 

Exposed, naked, something to see.

a formidable foe she can be.

Because what we see and what does not show

makes for a beautiful mystery we never quite know.

 

she can with a word turn most anything

she can make you frown or want to sing.

 

Do you think possible that it is best

not to search out all the rest?

 

For much of her mystery to you and I

is in nocturnal whisperings those loving lies.

Small sweet lies that make you fall

head over heels and stand ten feet tall.

 

So don't look so closely

at what she may say

for too much knowing

may drive her away.

The eyes are the soul

they say most of all

sending out the signals

that are yours to call.

 

So don't make a mistake

and believe what you see

a face with a mask

can fool you or me.
