Bequest to Renee

“Bequest to Renee”,
In the twilight of my final hours,
I am just a man aged eighty-two stooped but wise.
Approaching the gilded door of my life's end,
I can always seek solace, being near my daughter Renee.
My breath may be growing weak and the distance vast,
but my spirit is still steadfast and unyielding.
Guiding me on through the dark shadows of the past,
memories like gold are dancing through my mind.
Whispering tales of my life that I fully lived,
all my loves shared and the battles I fought.
Dreams I pursued both won and lost,
through this poem of free verse and my thoughts.
Thinking that this will immortalize my weary soul,
I'll paint a tapestry of words, vibrant and bold.
As I journey toward my eternal goal,
trembling hands vision that's impaired.
Hoping my writing these verses laden with passion,
I try to craft carefully like a symphony.
To capture my essence of my very existence
dictating these lines with an aching heart.
Sentences are woven into a melody,
a eulogy to a life lived to the fullest.
I am leaving this behind my,
bequest to Renee
