Free Spirit

"Free Spirit"

Through trials faced and battles won

I greet each dawn with a steadfast sun.

I feel the weight of years that bend my frame

but don't you know a spark of life still remains.

I've gained wisdom gleaned from years gone by

better to ponder and think as I gaze at the open sky.

My spirit is strong my laughter still is kind

a testament that shows that my life is well defined.

Though my pain is constant and nights are long

I can still hum a melody or two of life's sweet song.

In hope and faith I find my inner strength

one in front of the other as I go the length.

So here's to me, life is so very dear

as age and time make things crystal clear.

May I walk this earth for many a day

and let my free spirit guide my way.
