“A Good Life”

​

I am just an old man sitting in a comfy chair,
pondering about my life with a blank stare.

​

Wracked with pain, I don't function so well,
but I have so many stories left to tell.

​

I thought of all the love's that I have lost,
the battles I've been through fought at great cost.

​

Remembering the joy of my carefree youth,
days of laughter and play that is the truth.

​

But now those days are over and long gone,
as I am in the middle of my last swan song.

​

As I look back on my many and turbulent years,
heartbreak and disappointments bringing me to tears.

​

I have really lived a full life and have done well,
but wow! So many more stories I could tell.

​

Although I am wracked with old age pain,
and knowing my body won't work quite the same.

​

I know I have had a good run at life,
although I did battle always with daily strife.
