As the prison's gate swung out and wide

I stepped out vowing to leave the past behind.

I was ready for a new life with new rules

I had enough of lock-up, and being confined.

 

Over two decades I built a business that did thrive

I learned all the new rules and by them I did abide.

A woman named Janet entered my new life

a lady to love and I hope soon to be my wife.

 

She captured my heart with love and affection

and somehow found a way to calm all my fears.

We found bliss and happiness in each other's arms

we were friends and lovers for the next twenty years.

 

I went full out and gave it my very best

I embraced life with her no past in the way.
