Never Make a Clown Cry

The happy face,

I keep at night

tries all day

with all its might.

 

Make me happy,

never frown.

I want you to make me

your only clown.

The laugh I give
sounds brave and loud,
a little show
to please the crowd.

​

The paint, the grin,
not a disguise,
just weary truth
behind my eyes.

​

I rise with you on my mind
when morning’s near,
to play the fool
that brings you cheer.

​

The happy face
you think you know
is the mask
I choose to show.

​

Keep that sparkle 

 in my eye 

and never..ever 

make this clown cry.
