"Light In The Dark"

 

Humanity erodes

in the face of despair

a solitary fight

as my soul is laid bare.

 

Every moment a battle

each breath a test

in the depths of prison.

There’s no time for rest.

 

Harsh voices echo

a cacophony of pain

where trust is a game

that few dare to feign.

 

Rights are a memory

respect is a ghost

in this harsh realm

as fear reigns the most.

 

Isolation's grip tightens each day

as violence lurks in every glance

hope fades as dreams wither away

survival's a dance, a perilous chance.

 

The air grows heavy

and you can feel

that the wounds are so deep

they seem never to heal.

 

Relentless and oncoming

as an endless oncoming tide

stripped of your freedom

diminished in pride.

 

Yet within these walls

I find a spark

a sliver of hope

a light in the dark.
